FIRST MONTH OF ACCUTANE: Back story: I have had acne for half my life and it’s scarring my face. I have tried multiple antibiotics including monocycline, doxycycline, estarylla, and bactrim; some hurt me more than they helped me and the others stopped working bc my body got used to them. Why: I’m documenting my experience with accutane over these next 6 months for a few reasons: 1. I want people to know that acne is a very common thing and we can’t let it destroy our confidence. 2. I try to be very real about how I look on social media—I make stories with no makeup & bags under my eyes and I never edit my pictures to alter my appearance. 3. I want to keep track of my journey and how accutane affects my skin as well as my mental wellbeing. 4. I want to reach out to anyone who’s gone through this and ask you to please comment any advice you have!!! Comment, not DM, bc I want other people to have the advice if they’re on accutane as well! Currently: My face and eyes and scalp are all really itchy all the time. My lips need chapstick at least once every hour. My eyes burn and are red sometimes. I’m breaking out quite a bit & it’s painful. I can still wear coverup if I moisturize my face really well beforehand but sometimes I can’t even wear makeup bc it falls off 🤢 I don’t feel depressed or super self conscious, but I do feel pretty bugged about how itchy I am all the time. When my eyes burn, it makes me think I’m tired or need to rest bc I’m sick or something, so that kinda throws off my productivity. Other than that...just kind of nervous for the rest of this process because 1. I’m only taking 1 pill/day and it’s already affected me a lottt and the next 5 months I’ll have to take 2 pills/day so I can’t imagine how much stronger this is going to hit me...and 2. I live in Utah which is a freaking desert and already MEGA dries me out in the winter 🙃 </3 Leave your advice in the comments below, please!!!!! • • • • #accutane #acne #treatment #accutanejourney

Today is International Day of the Girl!! Here’s what I have to say: First, women and men are EQUAL in the eyes of God. This principle should be reflected throughout societies worldwide. God gave every one of us different talents and abilities and when BOTH women and men are equitably empowered to use those talents for good, we see happier, more productive societies. Second, GIRLS!! If you’re passionate about something, go after it! You can have a career AND a family. God gave you that passion for a reason and He trusts in your ability to impact lives within your families, your friends, your communities, and even the world!! If no one else supports you in your dreams, know that God believes in you, and guess what? God is ALL-POWERFUL! Which means you have the mightiest power in the universe on your side—cheering YOU on! In the words of Dr. Valerie Hudson, the author of Sex and World Peace, “You were not put on this planet to shut up...Life is short and then you die. And you will wonder what you did with your time here...If [your passions are] coming from your center, which I believe is your relationship with God, then I hope you follow those feelings”. #internationaldayofthegirl
